Around this time of year, in person gatherings tend to increase. Whether it's for a company retreat or office holiday party, we often focus first on the tangible logistics for preparing for sed gathering - venue, food, drinks etc. How much time do we spend on considering the purpose, the "why", the reason for gathering? Anywhere from wanting to express appreciation after a challenging year, to getting aligned on strategy for the year to come, purpose is one of the building blocks we find crucial for gathering well. There is great natural intelligence in our survival instincts, but in modern society we aren't faced with the same physical threats as we were in the primitive eras. This may sound really obvious, but what's less obvious is how these instincts can still at times influence our mental and emotional states in everyday life and conversations.
