Enhancing cell therapy by selecting cells with high extracellular vesicle secretion: Ke Cheng at Columbia University, Dino Di Carlo at UCLA and collaborators utilized nanovial technology to enrich millions of single cells based on EV secretion, applying this approach to select mesenchymal stem cells with high EV secretion for improved therapeutic treatment https://lnkd.in/gGt2FTNP They found that the selected MSCs exhibited distinct transcriptional profiles linked to EV biogenesis and vascular regeneration, and maintained high levels of EV secretion after sorting and regrowth. A: The project aims to increase the availability of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and progenitor cells (HPCs) through ex vivo culture methods, allowing a single donor to potentially support multiple recipients. Small molecules will be screened to promote HSC self-renewal while preserving their stemness. Additionally, a BioBank of in vitro expanded HSCs will be created for immediate, cryogenically stored access, significantly reducing wait times and improving transplant outcomes for patients. ❓Have questions?
