Now live in #Dublin, the WindEurope Technology Workshop 2024 #WindTech24 is in full swing! 🌬️🍀 Following a scene-setter with Remco Verzijlbergh from #Wiffle and Noel Cunniffe from Wind Energy Ireland, where we briefly reflected on the outcomes of the #EuropeanElections and the priorities and challenges for the wind energy sector for the next 5 years, we're starting our deep dive into the intricacies of #windenergy production with a session on #AEP #validation. Marie-Anne Cowan from Ramboll presented on the impact of #atmospheric stability conditions on #offshore turbine performance, with results revealing a difference of up to 2% in energy production between the power curves derived for stable and unstable atmospheric conditions. Next up came Philip Bradstock from Bitbloom presenting on the effect of wind turbine controller change on annual #energyyield, and introducing a new #algorithm to estimate the impact of #pitch angle changes. We also heard from Alex Clerc from RES who introduced a new method to measure the #AEP uplift of #windfarm enhancements and show their #value. And we will finish with a presentation by Sergio Jiménez Sanjuán from DNV on how to increase the #accuracy of #energyassessments of #hybrid projects combining wind+solar, analysing in particular the significance of time resolution in #timeseries modelling. “The cost of the projects is still extremely high and there are two main ways to lower this cost.
