This is a BIG deal. 👀 Not only must we ensure that existing water and wastewater infrastructure is maintained, but we also need to improve our systems to respond to emergent threats like PFAS (pervasive toxins that are difficult to destroy) and climate-related challenges like sea-level rise, stronger and more frequent weather events, and disruption to critical water supplies. This will require incredible feats like migrating critical infrastructure away from the coasts and implementing new ones to address needed treatment and purification. Of course, this will all require a lot of capital. It will also need a funding strategy that ensures that the infrastructure is ever-improving and is relevant and effective for future generations. Sustainability Partners LLC can help us make this a reality. #Sustainability #InfrastructureAsAService #ClimateAction #CleanWater #PFAS
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s latest Clean Watersheds Needs Survey, more than $630 billion is needed simply to maintain existing wastewater, stormwater, and other clean water infrastructure. If your community needs water infrastructure upgrades and is struggling to fill a funding gap, Sustainability Partners can help. We are a Public Benefit Company that facilitates the complete funding of new infrastructure without any upfront cost. Reach out today to find out how we can help! https://lnkd.in/eFWFqF4p

It’s worrying to read that efforts to clean up England’s rivers, lakes and seas have been described as poor. Watchdog The Office for Environmental Protection (OEP), a statutory body, said that the government is going to miss its target to improve water quality because its plans need more funding, commitment and detail. Only 16% of our waterways are rated as having Good Ecological Status, but the government’s target is to have this increase to 77% by 2027. The OEP report says this isn’t going to be achieved and 21% is more likely. At Suprafilt Ltd, we’re proud to supply and install aeration systems that contribute to cleaning up the wastewater discharged into rivers, lakes and the sea. Through our commitment to continuous innovation into our technology, we strike to make a positive impact on the environment through carbon reduction and energy-saving methods. I hope greater efforts will go into improving water health – hopefully this report should serve as a wake-up call for those in power.

This morning, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a new annual PM2.5 standard of 9 micrograms/cubic meter. According to research, a stronger standard will yield up to $46B in net health benefits, save lives, and build healthier communities, while supporting economic growth across America. Along with strengthening the primary annual PM2.5 standard, EPA is modifying the PM2.5 monitoring network design criteria to include a factor that accounts for proximity of populations at increased risk of PM2.5-related health effects to sources of air pollution. This will advance environmental justice by ensuring localized data collection in overburdened areas to inform future NAAQS reviews. #airquality https://lnkd.in/gabV4DJ8 Most Counties with Monitors Already Meet the Strengthened Particle Pollution Standard

Wet weather discharges present challenges for water utilities. Although many different approaches have been tried, studies show that concerns about regulatory programs for wet weather discharges remain unaddressed. At California Stormwater Quality Association Annual Conference 2024, Exponent’s Susan Paulsen, Ph.D., P.E., will present “Water Quality Compliance During Wet Weather: Lessons and Recommendations.” The session will explore the results of studies, as well as recommendations that US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and states invest in and develop guidance for Clean Water Act programs, including evaluating water quality standards; applying financial capability assessments (FCAs) and compliance schedules to prioritize permit implementation over time; and enabling the use of sustainable, nature-based solutions. A major focus of Meteor Communication's fully integrated Water Quality as a Service (WQaaS™) solution is the production of high-quality, reliable continuous monitoring data and its interpretation. A good starting point for anybody looking for a solution for the Environment Act 2021, section 82 should be data with interpretations, and lots of them. Meteor will be producing more quality case studies over the coming months to highlight the many important monitoring projects where WQaaS™ is deployed. #remotemonitoring #waterqualitymonitoring #getitright
