This is our moonshot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We’re reaching for the stars to enable 1000 women to start and lead tech companies over 5 years - work with us to build this moonshot a tech accelerator for women founders. We are actively looking for key partners! 🚀 The enthusiasm is there. The talent is there. The women are there. But the equity of opportunity is missing. 🌍The lack of financing opportunities isn’t just restricted to Ireland. Currently some 87 per cent of all VC funding in Europe is still raised by all-men teams. The proportion of funding raised by women-only teams has dropped from 3 per cent to 1 per cent since 2018. 📍We are keen to work collaboratively and complement already existing players in the Irish ecosystem. 🏆There are significant financial benefits to backing female-founded companies, noting research undertaken by former NatWest Group chief executive Alison Rose that revealed backing businesses founded by women could unlock billions in additional economic value. https://lnkd.in/eEZJTNZ9 Áine Kerr Dr Lollie Mancey Patricia Scanlon Maura McAdam Oonagh O'Shea Veronica Breene Kieran Towey Kieran O'Brien Jean Rea Jean O'Donnell Martina Naughton Jo N. As a mentor for Women in Tech, virtual platforms have proven invaluable in enhancing mentorship opportunities for female professionals in the technology sector. These digital avenues transcend geographical constraints, enabling seamless connections between mentors and mentees regardless of location. This accessibility is particularly beneficial for women in regions where in-person resources may be limited due to societal norms or other factors. Moreover, virtual mentorship facilitates flexible scheduling, allowing for the harmonization of professional development and personal commitments – a critical factor for fostering an inclusive environment conducive to growth. These platforms frequently provide comprehensive resources, including educational materials, networking prospects, and support forums, cultivating a holistic ecosystem for the advancement of women in technology. By leveraging virtual platforms, mentors can impart guidance, share experiences, and offer counsel tailored to the unique challenges faced by their mentees, empowering them to overcome barriers and thrive in their respective technology careers. Ultimately, these digital avenues democratize access to mentorship, propelling the representation and success of women in the ever-evolving technological landscape.

💡 I dropped out of studying Medicine at university, had no clue what I wanted to do, and earned the prestigious title of "Family Disappointment of the Year"... But here’s the thing: even if you’re not sure where you’re headed, a path WILL unfold for you. #WomenInTechWeek feels like the perfect moment for me to share how a winding path can still be a path to success and why we need more women in tech. 💻✨ *So what happened?* After dropping out of doing Medicine, I switched to studying Natural Sciences (bio, chem, maths, and economics)—clearly still unsure of my life’s direction. It wasn’t until my computer-heavy master’s that I realised my interest in tech. One of my first roles in the industry was at Calastone, a FinTech, where I worked across Operations, Technology, Client Delivery, and the Commercial team—getting a 360° view of the business. That experience laid the foundation for everything that came after. And that was just the start. I’ve grown by constantly learning and surrounding myself with great mentors—brilliant women like Kate Webber, Laura Mann , Lorna Glynn and more recently, Lauren Hayes and Kelly Mathieson, who have guided me and continue to guide me through key moments in my career. Moving through different roles helped me gain a deep understanding of the tech behind financial services. Now, as Director of Presales at Jaid, I get to work with AI to drive digital transformation for financial institutions using all the skills I've learnt over the years. Being not only a woman in tech, but also a Black woman, all while managing a bipolar disorder, has brought its fair share of challenges. It’s been a journey of resilience and I’ve often leaned into my community for support. But every challenge brings a unique perspective that I’m proud to use my voice and my platform to share. *Ok, ok, Chim, but how do we support more women in tech???* We need to focus on mentorship, flexible work policies, and intentional diversity at the leadership level. It’s not just about creating a seat at the table—it’s about making sure everyone has a voice. *Chim’s Top Tip* Build your tribe. Seek mentors. And always remember—you belong in every room you step into. #womenintech #womenintechweek #fintech #technology #womeninstem #DEI #diversity #inclusion #wearetechwomen Thank you WeAreTechWomen for encouraging me to share my story!
