A fantastic few days at the ADEPT Autumn Conference - our last event of the season! 🙌 Yesterday, our Director of Marketing and Growth, Josh Sweeney, was involved in a panel discussion as part of the Build a Future Fit Workforce / Skills Revolution Workshop. The workshop, sponsored by Costain Group PLC, focused on how the industry can ensure all children get an equal start in life, no matter what their background. The panel discussion gave us the opportunity to highlight what initiatives we get involved in to inspire our younger generation, including the work we do with Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone. We took the chance to showcase a recent tea towel design one of their members created based on who Multevo are. 🧡 Josh discussed the challenges around engaging a younger audience and also referenced the recent work of the Highways Sector Council’s #Highwaysoflife campaign aiming to highlight the exciting and varied opportunities available in the sector. A huge thanks to the organisers, speakers and delegates for a great couple of days. 👏 #Adept #PlaceServices #Community #SocialValue

We don't normally do 'date in the calander' posts. But NSW Youth Week feels like a conversation that GTF could have something to add to. Our purpose at GTF is to 'Create Space for Young People to Grow'. The word 'Grow' does allot of work for us. Literally, the youth who are apart of GTF are growing food, growing plants, and growing ecosystems. But to us, growing food and transforming the physical environment, is just a tool that we use to create the real growth: growth in CONFIDENCE, CAPACITY AND CONNECTION, within and among the young people we work with. We are lucky to have a community that REALLY cares and wants the best for 12–24-year-olds in the Bega Valley. We also have a bunch of services and community groups that are doing amazing work to support young people. The gap that we saw in the Bega Valley, and a gap we're hoping that GTF is filling, is to have spaces where young people can connect around something that genuinely matters, and in a way that they really feel that they are having an impact on the word. We're not talking about a 'save the world' impact. We're just talking about young people seeing the tangible outcomes of their involvement in the world. We're talking about young people walking past a space that they worked on 1, 2, 30 weeks ago, and seeing the impact that THEY made on the world. As simple as this sounds, in a world where everything is mediated by technology, and young people are more and more disconnected from the physical world, the boost that young people get from these types of experiences should never be underestimated. underestimated. 🍂 #nswyouthweek #regionalyouth #regionaldevelopment #youthprojects #permayouth #socialenterprise #socialimpact #southcoastnsw #sapphirecoastnsw

👥 How can we balance the diverse needs within affinity groups to foster true community uplift and care? 💪 And how do we measure success? I had the incredible opportunity this past weekend to dive deep into these questions at the The BOND Project conference, facilitating a session titled "Lifting as We Climb: Affinity Groups as Community Uplift and Care." The energy and engagement from all the participants truly made this a transformative experience! Thank you to Daman Harris and the BOND team for the opportunity to share. In the session, we explored effective strategies from my book for creating successful affinity spaces and discussed practical ways to meet diverse needs, ensuring that every member feels seen and supported. As you can see from this brief clip, there was positive *buzz* in the room as we harnessed each other's brilliance! 👇 👇 👇 For those who missed the session or are eager to delve deeper into the discussion, I encourage you to sign up for the newsletter. You’ll get access to free resources shared during the session, and stay updated on upcoming events and workshops. 🔍💼✨ Are you leveraging equitable evaluation in your organization? Jacqueline Chan's San Francisco Bay Area Evaluators Week article offers insightful strategies on incorporating equity into program evaluations. Chan illustrates this through the SparkPoint program at United Way Bay Area, focusing on these key strategies: 1. **Stakeholder Engagement:** Involve local communities in the evaluation process for true inclusivity. 2. **Cultural Responsiveness:** Adapt approaches to fit the diverse cultural contexts of your audience. 3. **Flexible Evaluation Design:** Pivot and adapt to emerging issues, ensuring relevancy and effectiveness. 4. **Building a Culture of Learning:** Utilize data for continual improvement and targeted interventions. Implementing these principles helps in creating evaluations that are not only effective but also just and inclusive. If you're aiming for impactful and equitable outcomes, integrating these strategies is a vital step forward.
