Whatever your role in life or work, a smile or a hug are brilliant things. But why don't we do them more? 🤔 I used to work in a corporate environment in banks. Nobody hugged anyone and most people dashed out the door at the end of their shift. People rarely smiled. Now, I work with small business owners, and I see and experience a lot more hugs and friendly smiles. But it is still a challenge for many people to connect at a human level - even just a smile. Is it that people are just fed up with jobs more today than ever before? E.g. there is a lot of dissatisfaction and frustration around. Is it that people think it's better to remain tough, hard and focused to show they are serious about getting the job done? E.g. they don't ever smile. Or, is it something else. 👀 The clip below is a brilliant example of connecting at a human level and asking permission to do so. What do you think? 🤔 #business #businessintelligence #leadership #motivation

3rd Round of the Womens 6 Nations now complete & we've added the results, updated the tables and named the scorers in each match (linking back to their Player Profiles). Most rounds there's a 'new' player who scores and has no Profile on our site, so we add them a new one. France had two such players this weekend (Nassira Konde & Annaelle Deshayes). Our website currently holds all 6N results & tables back to & including 2013, - and all scorers recorded back to & including 2015. We are constantly working on this and will eventually have everything back to the inaugural Home (4) Nations in 1995/6 - including, I hope - scorers, too. Here's how 2024 is going so far: https://lnkd.in/efMZ-NFw

Black History is more than a month📣 It’s an ongoing commitment, a call to action to learn and do more. We are proud to announce our partnership with eight leading sports organisations for a new research project to better understand the unique needs and experiences of Black British girls in sport. Our previous research has shown a startling disconnect - despite having the most positive attitudes enthusiasm and confidence toward sport among all ethnic groups, only 35% of Black British girls meet recommended activity levels. This disparity speaks to a gap in opportunity, resources, and support that we are determined to address. The findings from this study will be used to drive meaningful change across the sports sector to tackle the inequalities in sport and physical activity for Black British teenage girls. This work is being supported by British Cycling, British Rowing, England and Great Britain Hockey, England Netball, England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Football Association, the Lawn Tennis Association and England Rugby Read more about the research here: https://lnkd.in/e-Thzwr4 #BlackHistoryMonth #BHM2024 #BHM

Support for youth sport is so important
Since our beginnings 200 years ago, we've been passionate about having an active role in the communities we live and work in. In 2024, we want to help those communities thrive and one way we do that is through our sponsorship of youth sport. We're excited to say we're continuing to support Schools' Rugby across Northern Ireland for another three years. Phil Smyth, our Managing Director of Commercial Development commented on the sponsorship extension: “This next season will mark the 20th year of Danske Bank support for Ulster Schools’ Rugby. When we first started working together, the main competition was the renowned Boys Schools’ Cup, but over the years our support has grown and diversified to other competitions such as the Girls Schools’ Cup, the High Schools’ Cup and the U16 Cup. This evolution means there are now more opportunities than ever for young people to access and play high-quality schools rugby at all levels." Keith Shorten, Head of Commercial at Ulster Rugby added: "Danske Bank exemplify the positive impact that a sponsor of our grassroots game can have in the local community. As well as supporting the ambitions of schools’ players hoping to play the game at the highest level, their investment in the sport also creates the opportunity for young people to develop a lifelong love of sport and staying active, which brings immeasurable health and well-being benefits at all ages." Doing the right thing
Yesterday, with over 300 colleagues, I attended our annual ED&I conference, organised by Carrie Dunn and her team. The commitment shown by our leaders and their teams to making room for everyone shone through in discussion with our CEO, Jennie Daly, and Nick Wright and our supply chain partners. Our regional businesses making schools outreach a reality, and our employee networks demonstrating their passion inspired and impressed in equal measure. Topped off by the launch of our 6th network, EnAble, sponsored by Ishaq Kayani, and it could not have been a better end to the day to listen to Lauren Rowles, paralympic gold medallist, who interrupted her training to share her amazing story. #proud #teamTW #roomforeeveryone

Women (or the lack thereof) in Formula 1 🏎️ The Formula 1 is popular all over the world and has even grown their female fanbase in recent years, but still only a few women have actually competed in the sport. Five women have entered a Grand Prix, only two managed to qualify and start a race. → Maria Teresa de Filippis was the first woman in F1 (1958). Instead of being praised she was told, "the only helmet a woman should wear is the one at the hairdresser's." → Lella Lombardi is the most successful woman in F1, with 17 entries and 12 starts. → Desiré Wilson is the only woman to win an F1 race of any kind. Her victory at Brands Hatch in 1980 is a huge milestone, but her story is still not widely known. 🔹The 1976 British Grand Prix was the first race with more than one woman with Lella Lombardi and Divina Galica. Fortunately, the future looks bright. F1 Academy is working to bring more women into the sport. Now the question is: when will we see the first female Formula 1 World Champion?

Good game, better people! Excerpt from NY Times article- “Twenty-six percent of all on-course golfers are now women,” Spiegel said. “Sixty percent of new golfers are women.” "One barrier to young girls (and boys) is price. Golf is expensive. Programs like First Tee, backed by the PGA Tour, and Girls Golf, sponsored by the L.P.G.A. and United States Golf Association, the game’s governing body, look to teach skills to young players at little to no cost." Our numbers: 38% of First Tee participants are girls. We can do better. We will do better! Ask yourself, if not me then who? If not now, then when? #firsttee #pgatour #pgatss #girlgolfer #lpga #usga

Road To LEGACY
The excitement is rising as we gear up for tomorrow’s Aalborg BK match in the 3F Superliga! The international break has given us the chance to reflect on the first half of the season and critically assess our progress, especially in terms of player development! Aalborg BK has a clear strategy focused on bringing young talents from North Jutland and Aalborg into Portland Park to not only join the professional squad but to make a real impact. These players aren’t just there to fill the squad — they are expected to become key contributors and play a pivotal role in the team’s success. Giving them valuable minutes on the pitch and integrating them as essential parts of the first team is a core part of the club’s philosophy. We are proud that the hard work of our staff at Hornevej is already paying off this season, and we’re starting to see the first successes on this path! Watch the video to hear what James Gow and Julius Nagel have to say about this approach. But what excites us the most is hearing young players like Oliver Ross and Mads Bomholt share their experiences, paving the way for future talents from our academy. We’re especially proud of their words, because ultimately, everything we do at the club is for them and our fans!
