As a girl growing up in Kakadu, Kylie-Lee Bradford had a dream: she wanted to start a business offering products made from wild harvested native foods. 🌱 This #IndigenousBusinessMonth, we’re celebrating the First Nations exporting businesses bringing Australia’s innovation and unique products to the world! 🖤💛❤️💚💙 The proud Murrumburr woman from Kakadu National Park has made her dream come true. Kakadu Organics uses beautiful native ingredients like Kakadu plum, lemon myrtle and wild lime in its foods, teas and wellness products. Now, the #FirstNations business wants to share its products with the world. Kylie used Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade)’s Go Global Toolkit to test her export readiness, research markets and prepare an export plan, and took part in a trade mission to Southeast Asia for First Nations business, that resulted in her first export deal with Singapore’s Ryan's Grocery. Kakadu Organics’ success is enabling Kylie to fulfil another dream: through a give-back program, she is empowering other First Nations women to succeed in business, arts and culture. It’s Cyber Security Awareness Month and we want to give a shoutout to the amazing work from the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (CRC). The Cyber Security CRC created an interactive simulation called Corporates Compromised® that businesses can use to prepare in case of a ransomware attack. The simulation helps business leaders understand ways to protect themselves, how their systems might be exploited and how they recover. The Australian Government is investing $55 million in 23 business-research collaborations to develop world-leading innovations. Round 16 Cooperative Research Centre Projects (CRC-P) includes: ➡️ CPC Engineering developing a new process to separate iron ore, aluminium and other metals. ➡️ Roc Technologies designing, manufacturing and deploying foundations for offshore renewable energy. The successful grant recipients include Australian businesses and research organisations working in agriculture, clean technology, infrastructure, health, mining and manufacturing. The projects support partnerships which improve competitiveness, productivity and sustainability of Australian industries. CRC-Ps strengthen links between industry and research organisations, to develop new technologies, products, processes and services. CRC-P grants support industry-led research projects, offering matched funding of between $100,000 and $3 million. Grants are for a period of up to 3 years.
