About us
The International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) is a worldwide network of building and construction experts who improve their day-to-day performance through international co-operation and information exchange with their peers. It’s an international community of brilliant minds and head-of-class entities, early career researchers and student chapters, focused on building and construction research and innovation. CIB was established in 1953 with United Nations’ assistance and holds special UN consultative status. The Board of Directors is an impressive group of 25 senior leaders within their countries’ research and academic communities. Collaborate and Compare: CIB’s 40+ Commissions give members the opportunity to collaborate with global experts on in-depth and multi-facetted research and consensus building. Each Commission consists of global researchers, academics, and practitioners and cover the most relevant aspects of building and construction. Compare your research and innovation against the world’s leaders. Take what you learn, apply the knowledge, and improve. Inclusion and Inspiration: CIB is a community that includes everybody. It promotes inclusion and diversity. Voices from all cultures and backgrounds contribute positively to the advancement of our industry. Members benefit from this inclusivity as it exposes them to new ways of thinking. Members are inspired by our diverse network. Member organizations can apply to host international CIB conferences that bring together the world’s greatest minds to share ideas, present state-of-the-art research and validate innovation. This is valuable to international and research-oriented students because it offers exchange opportunities. We encourage early career researchers to participate fully in the work of CIB.

📢 We are delighted to announce the winner of the CIB Best Doctoral Dissertation Award 2024 is Hongying Zhao of RMIT University 👏 Following a round of presentations from the 5 shortlisted candidates to a panel of judges appointed by CIB, Hongying’s work on 'Energy, Economic and Environmental Performances of BIPV Façade in Urban Environment: a Machine Learning Based Urban Morphology Method' was judged to be worthy of the award. In addition to Hongying, the shortlisted candidates were Ania Khodabakhshian, Ph.D. of Politecnico di Milano, De-Graft Joe Opoku, PhD, PhD of Western Sydney University, Olufisayo Adedokun fniqs, rqs of University of Newcastle and Benjamin Ifeoluwa Oluleye of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
