Today, we are happy to present our newest posting series, "JAPGER Network Navigator", in which we will introduce you to different companies and institutions related to Japan. However, instead of introducing these to you ourselves, we will let representatives of each company or institution do the honor by answering a couple of questions. To kick things off, we are happy to have talked to Anne Pomsel, Managing Director of the DJW - Deutsch-Japanischer Wirtschaftskreis - 日独産業協会 (DJW). Since last year, Japamburg has also been an official part of DJW as a working group, which helps both parties help each other and leverage their strengths. What would you like to know about the DJW? Let us know in the comments! #Japamburg #JAPGERBIZNAV #DJW #Hamburg #Japan #business #network

This year was and still is a special year for Hamburg. The reason? 35 years ago, in 1989, Hamburg and Osaka started their city partnership making them sister cities. As part of this celebration, we welcomed a delegation from Osaka to Hamburg this summer, including Mayor Hideyuki Yokoyama. Japamburg used this opportunity to host an exclusive dialogue event between both towns and start-ups under the motto of "Business Opportunities for Start-ups". Participants from both Hamburg and Osaka presented their businesses and talked about the importance of each other's cities as part of their growth opportunities. And some of you may remember that this was already our second sister city dialogue between Hamburg and Osaka, with the first one taking place back in 2021. A heartfelt thank you to our partners in both cities who support these endeavors: Osaka International Business Promotion Center (IBPC Osaka), Handelskammer Hamburg, Hamburg Invest, and Impact Hub Hamburg, to name just a few.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we look not toward the US but toward Japan for a similar but distinct holiday. The Kinrou Kansha no Hi (勤労感謝の日) or Labor Thanksgiving Day (Nov 23rd) dates originally back over 2000 years, when the holiday was called "Niiname-sai" and was more akin to the known Thanksgiving days around the world, where people are thankful for plentiful harvests over the past year. After the Second World War, when all former Shinto-related holidays were abolished or changed, Niiname-sai was given a new purpose - To thank the hardworking laborers. While it is a national holiday, there are no distinctive traditions. Some schools might let kids create thank-you notes for laborers, and some companies might show gratitude to their employees. Still, aside from that, Kinrou Kansha no Hi is more a day for personal reflection and appreciation of everyone's work. What do you think of the concept of a dedicated Labor Thanksgiving Day? Necessary or should not every day be Labor Thanksgiving Day? #Japamburg #Japan #Hamburg #ThanksGiving #business #network

#Japamburg on a Culinary Tour On Monday, we accepted an invitation from the JFFEA (Japan Farmed Fish Export Association), who came to Hamburg to introduce two fish, Buri (Japanese yellowtail) and Madai (red sea bream), to the northern German market before they conquer Germany in the future. In a small circle at the Trend Lab + Loft in Hamburg-Ottensen, chef and host Guido Weber and his team prepared four different dishes that, for once, did not include sushi or sashimi but were completely convincing. We would like to thank you for the good conversations and great insights into the #JFFEA and the two fish species from marketing and sales manager Ei Kiuchi and Dr. Masahiko Ariji, professor of fisheries and food at the Institute of World Economics at Kindai University in Osaka, as well as the invitation from Riedel PR. Good news for Japan in Hamburg! Hamburg‘s Business News just reported about the growing traction in #Hamburg‘s business connections with #Japan. This is something we noticed a lot in these past three years with Japamburg, especially in regards to cross-border innovation topics and startups. Give the article a read for an up to date view of Hamburg‘s Japan connections and how these are shaping up in the present. And Japamburg was mentioned as well, thank you for that Sarah Bischoff! https://lnkd.in/eNYVh93h

The German-Japanese Partnership Days are taking place in Berlin this weekend. To inaugurate the weekend, the First Young Career Forum for the German-Japanese economic region was held on October 10th, co-organized by Dr. Carolin Becke. Japamburg was also in attendance, given that Carolin is an active member of our organizational team. The on-site support was also done by a familiar Japamburg face, former Network Assistant Jan Middelberg. Congratulations to all organizers, the Japanese-German Center Berlin | JDZB and Deutsch-Japanische Jugendgesellschaft e.V. (DJJG) for the successful event!

#teamLab #Museumsbau #Kunst #Technologie #Hamburg

Truth revealed: Hokkaido people are purely crazy 🦖 We decided to organize a crazy conference Hokkaido Innovation Week to support startups that are pursuing crazy goals. During #NoMaps2024 we witnessed that Hokkaido people like to be dainasour and run the city 🦖💨 Dainasour was racing together without biting, fighting and attacking each other. This is probably the origin of how Hokkaido innovators embrace crazy goals together. Did you miss #NoMaps? Then you need to come to Hokkaido Innovation Week in February 2025 ☃️❤️ #hokkaido #dainasour #racing
