Today and tomorrow, 20-21 November 2024, we are thrilled to participate in "IoT: When Objects Speak – Workshops, Ideas, People", an #event organized by the Camera di Commercio Milano Monza Brianza Lodi and Punto Impresa Digitale, in collaboration with Arduino. We’ll be showcasing "#BOTTO – Food I Don’t Throw Away", an IoT device designed to fight food waste. BOTTO is a product-service system that operates within SogeMi - Foody's vegetable market, streamlining communication between wholesalers and the RECUP association to effectively reduce food waste. Tomorrow afternoon, don’t miss our talk: ‘From #Ideation to #Prototyping’, where we’ll explore the power of iterative design to transform innovative ideas into reality. 🌍 Through the FEAST project, OpenDot collaborates with the Tuscany Living Lab and the Italian Society of Pediatrics to promote healthy eating for #children, with ASL Toscana Nord-Ovest, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and Università di Scienze Gastronomiche. As part of the FEAST project, we bring our expertise in tech and design to promote healthier lifestyles and foster cross-cultural understanding through nutrition. In the new outpatient pediatric nutrition clinic, we’re using the Cross-Cultural #Food #Pyramid, a unique educational tool that integrates the principles of the #MediterraneanDiet with food traditions from across the globe. This approach respects and celebrates the #diversity of today's #multicultural society, offering children and families guidance on how to incorporate a variety of flavors and ingredients into a balanced diet. And that’s a wrap in Berlin! What an incredible day, filled with energy, creativity, and inspiring ideas! Every team brought something unique to the table, and it’s clear that each idea had the potential to make a real impact. We truly believe that everyone is a winner for the passion and innovation they showed throughout the hackathon—however, we did have to choose! A huge congratulations to our winners: Paige Postma, Dishunee Pandya, Niklas Michels, and Minette Mangahas - The KiezGarden team! 🎉 Their innovative concept, #TheKiezGardenWheel, stood out as a solution to bridge communication gaps within community gardens. The idea of this digital planner is designed to enhance knowledge sharing, streamline planning, and foster a sense of connection among community gardens, both internally and externally. The concept will be developed further under the mentorship of Opendot. 👏 Kudos to the team behind The KiezGarden for their vision, and thank you to everyone who participated. We are excited to have participated in the second Consortium Meeting of the European project FEAST (#Food systems that support transitions to #healthy and #sustainable diets) in the beautiful Viana do Castelo, Portugal! 🇵🇹 During the meeting, we had the opportunity to explore the stunning Lima Valley and Minho Valley sub-regions, gaining firsthand insight into innovative projects and #community initiatives that are transforming #local food systems. These initiatives not only promote healthier eating habits but also support the local economy and preserve the region’s precious natural heritage. 🌱 💬 As OpenDot, together with ICLEI Europe, we played an active role in exchanging knowledge and sharing the results achieved over the past two years. Our efforts, led by our team members Cristina Biella and Marta Savoldelli, focused on gathering feedback from the Living Labs, fostering valuable discussions to address shared needs. 🌐 Being part of this #network, which has been built through the FEAST project, allows us to contribute to a collaborative ecosystem that drives local actions with a global impact. This type of collaboration between #local and #international partners is essential to identifying common challenges and finding concrete solutions, working together towards a more sustainable and resilient food system.
