This isn’t a quick fix—it’s a long-term commitment to helping customers and communities thrive. Place based working is a concept that shifts from a one-size-fits-all approach to one that understands the unique needs of each community. Building on lessons from neighbourhood coaching and insights from others, our first pilot has launched in Staple Hill, South Gloucestershire. We invest in homes and relationships so people can thrive.
About us
We’re a housing association – one of the biggest in the country, with almost 45,000 homes across central and south west England. While we believe in providing warm, safe and secure homes, ultimately we’re a people business. Not only do we care about the 100,000 people who live in our homes, we want them to thrive. We believe that having a great place to call home is just the start and with the right relationships and someone who believes in your potential, almost anything is possible. Our customers are the people that live in our homes for rent and shared ownership. Our customers are also those who rent our garages and our commercial buildings and those buying one of our homes for outright sale. That’s why we will continue to make a difference by investing in relationships and in connecting people, so our customers get to where they want to be. Because when they succeed, we succeed and that success drives us to do even more. That's why our purpose is simple and honest: We invest in homes and relationships so people can thrive.

Had a lovely evening on Tuesday with the Place Team spreading Christmas cheer by delivering selection boxes to children around Staple Hill. For our customers to thrive, the communities they are part of need to thrive socially and economically. It was great to be out in the community, meeting customers in person and hearing positive feedback about Place. Our Place engineers Chris and Andy were brilliant as Santa and his elf, and we even had a special appearance from Dale Hughes 🧝🎅🧝 Bromford Angela Manson Paul Taylor Leo Awadzi 🎁🎄🌟⛄

We’re committed to creating safer, cleaner communities. That’s why we’ve invested in a state-of-the-art graffiti removal machine. This powerful tool will help us tackle anti-social behaviour and improve the look and feel of our neighbourhoods. Our new place-based approach empowers our teams to respond quickly to local issues, like graffiti, and make a real difference. More info - https://lnkd.in/eH8t9YJd #Bromford #UKHousing

Our Data Science and Technology teams are tackling challenges like flood risk with cutting-edge solutions. A new app we've developed called Bromford Flood Insight is a prime example of how these teams are harnessing the power of data to make smarter, more informed decisions in property management and investment planning. By integrating live data from the Environment Agency, the app provides real insights needed to assess flood risks and make proactive decisions — helping us stay ahead of environmental challenges and build more resilient communities. But it’s more than just technology. It’s about using data and technology to create smarter solutions that have a lasting impact. If you’re interested in how data science is reshaping the way we work, we’d love to connect and exchange ideas. Last financial year at Bromford: 🔑 70 of our customers' homes were enhanced with additional security measures relating to domestic abuse, including improved locks, smart doorbells, and window vibration alarms. 🚨 113 domestic abuse cases were supported (75 complainant cases, 38 perpetrator cases). 💬 Here, Nick Gazzard, a domestic abuse campaigner and father of Hollie, who was tragically killed by her ex-partner, shares his story. A heartfelt thank you to Nick, our dedicated colleagues, and our partners for their commitment to making our customers and communities safer. #16Days #EndViolence #UKHousing #NoExcuse Hollie Gazzard Trust UN Women Hazel O'Halloran

We’ve completed another land deal - this time to buy a 2.5 acre site in Gloucester with space for 30 new affordable homes. The site already has outline planning permission for the homes and we’ll be submitting a reserved matters application in the next few months, so our in-house construction team can get started on site in early 2026. It will be a 100% affordable development with all homes available for rent or shared ownership. We’re continuing to look for new opportunities for development sites across the West of England and West Midlands. Please let us know if you have a site we might be interested in acquiring. Who in social housing wants to help tackle barriers to connected homes and shape the future of smart housing? 🏡
Coming soon... the largest project ever undertaken in the UK social housing sector to understand the current state of connected/smart homes... In this hyper-connected world, housing organisations are realising they need to move away from current reactive asset practices, and towards getting their homes talking to them and their customers. They want to do this to better protect tenants' wellbeing, meet new regulatory and compliance requirements and deliver more efficient homes homes that help people thrive. However, the pace of development of connected homes has been painfully slow in this sector, with a lack of understanding about the opportunity many barriers to fully realise the potential at scale. The Disruptive Innovators Network (DIN) and Bromford housing, in conjunction with a wide range of sector partners, are soon going to survey the social housing sector at scale. For the first time we want to paint a picture of where landlords are at with their connected homes, how far they have to go on their journey, how they are using this new property data, what are the skills they are using to do this and how big is the gap they have to close, and much more. With a go live date of early 2025, anyone interested in being part of this groundbreaking research should contact the DIN project director Matthew Gardiner, or me - Dan Goodall, CTO of Bromford housing for an initial chat about the scope. As well as getting in touch could leaders within housing organisation please repost this to their networks as well. We'd love to have organisation onboard who really care about solving the barriers towards creating truly connected homes at scale. Bye for now, Dan.
