Jason Robinson Foundation

Non-profit Organizations

Providing disadvantaged children and young people with opportunities to change their lives.

About us

We know, through first-hand experience, that sport is an effective conduit to physical and mental health benefits, life skills, friendships and feelings of motivation and self-worth. Our charity is born from an inspiring individual and one who, had he not been presented with additional opportunity himself, would have grown up to have had a very different experience in life. "If I can come from one of the most deprived areas in the UK and go on to win the Rugby World Cup, imagine how many other young people can achieve great things given the right guidance, nurture and opportunity. I created this foundation to help young people be the best that they can be." Founder, Jason Robinson OBE We focus on underprivileged areas of the UK where social and economic conditions can often create barriers to opportunity. Our initial area of focus has been Leeds, Manchester and London. Our offering includes: - School multi-sport programmes - Holiday camps - Community programmes - One to one mentoring & coaching We run a number of fundraising events throughout the year and we are building a strong network of corporate partners to enable sustainability for our programmes and ultimately increase the impact and value of what we do in the communities.

  • We had a fabulous evening in the City of London last week where we invited some amazing guests to an exclusive screening and to say a huge thank you for all the support we have had since our inception. We showcased two short movies: 1. Never Meet Your Heroes Pilot - featuring Jason Robinson OBE 2. JRF Cycle Challenge - a behind the scenes take on a charity challenge event. Our guests enjoyed a welcome reception followed by the short films and a Q&A hosted by our CEO Cara MacGregor interviewing our founder Jason Robinson OBE and rugby legend Rochelle (Rocky) Clark MBE, both of whom endured the cycle challenge and lived to tell the tale! It was so great reuniting with all the amazing cyclists from our Sardinia challenge who helped us raise incredible funds for the foundation just over 2 months ago. A huge thanks to Steven Lewis for being the creative producer behind both of these edits and Craig Bilham for his videography work in Sardinia and Leeds. We are incredibly grateful to all individuals and companies who support our work and ultimately help fund our children's coaching programmes in areas of deprivation in the UK. We look forward to many more of you joining us on the next chapter! Last Week, our global Head of Education, Carl Bailey, joined by our Schools' consultant, Phil Greenaway and Grays International CEO, Richard Gray attended an exclusive preview of two short movies: 1️⃣ Never Meet Your Heroes Pilot - featuring Jason Robinson. 2️⃣ Jason Robinson Foundation Sardinia Challenge - behind-the-scenes look at an inspiring charity challenge event. The evening, hosted with drinks and canapés, began at 6:30 PM, followed by the screenings at 7:30 PM. Attendees also enjoyed a fascinating Q&A session with Jason Robinson OBE and Rochelle (Rocky) Clark MBE, who both participated in the JRF Sardinia Cycle Challenge 2024. The event wrapped up with networking opportunities, concluding at 9:30 PM. About the Stars of the Evening. Jason Robinson OBE A true sporting icon, Jason has reached the pinnacle of both Rugby League and Rugby Union. He is a 3-time World Cup finalist and famously scored England's sole try in their 2003 Rugby World Cup victory. We recently hosted a panel discussion on the impact of sport on young people and its role in tackling inequalities and breaking barriers. The panel consisted of former England rugby captain, Jason Robinson OBE, Waves for Change Global Development Director, Paula Yarrow, CEO and Founder of Bloomsbury Football Foundation, Charlie Hyman, and Director of XXI & Executive Director Play International, David Blough. The conversation was moderated by former England netball captain, Ama Agbeze MBE LLB MSc. Insightful discussions followed the screening of David Blough's documentary "XXI: The Sport of Solutions", which R&Co4Generations proudly sponsored. The film highlights how sport fosters inclusion, equal opportunities and education, featuring NGOs, beneficiaries, former athletes and educators. Rothschild & Co has hosted screenings for our colleagues and clients in our offices in London, Paris, Marseille and Lyon. #Sport #PanelDiscussion #Philanthropy #PowerofSport

  • Really interesting research showing the correlation between girls participating in sport and going on to progress in corporate careers. 65% of girls dropping out of sport by the time they are teenagers is a statistic that we are actively trying to change - and we suspect is even higher in the areas of the UK in which we work.

65% of girls drop out of sport by the time they're teenagers. BUT 96% of female C-suite executives participated in sports as teenagers. The correlation between the two is fascinating, yet not surprising. In order to achieve gender balance in the boardroom (and oh boy do we need it), focusing on reducing the drop out rate of girls in sports must be a priority for everyone. Lack of role models is not an issue anymore. Thanks to the wonderful momentum of female sports, we have an abundance of incredible role models, that are rightly in the media spotlight & taking centre stage. The Paris Olympics is a shining example of this, whether it be competing, coaching or broadcasting. If you can see it, you can become it! It’s now down to schools, governing bodies and brands to work harder to reduce the dropout rate of girls in sports, increase accessibility and break down barriers. Playing sports at any level can really help women progress in their corporate careers. Let’s keep things moving !! https://lnkd.in/eUUcbDCw https://lnkd.in/ejAD3Jmp

  • Thanks Paul Warren and thanks Obex Dental for hosting and supporting this amazing initiative. The Obex Foundation is working hard to connect local businesses in Beds. and Herts. to support their communities by funding programmes for children and young people who are in need of extra support. The positive impact from providing this support not only affects the children directly involved, but their families, the schools and ultimately the wider community. Working together for a stronger future. We are delighted to be a part of this and will be starting programmes across 5 schools in the area in September.

Fantastic Breakfast Briefing event yesterday at Obex Dental speaking with local SME’s about how together we can support local young people in Beds & Herts. The mission is to tackle inequalities in young people through sport, with amazing partners like Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, Jason Robinson Foundation and Dallaglio RugbyWorks! I saw first hand the impact of the programme so far by meeting students at Challney High School for Girls and the transformation was inspiring! They’ve truly gained life skills and huge confident from the support. We’ll soon be launching local networking events in Herts/Beds are if any regional businesses would like to attend? Information about Obex Foundaiton will soon be on social channels and a new website coming soon. 📣 #charity #education #schools

I had the pleasure of speaking at Rothschild & Co, where I joined Ama Agbeze MBE LLB MSc, Jason Robinson Foundation and the rest of the brilliant panel to explore the ways that sport can unite people and be a force for positive change. This is a theme we see every day through our work at Bloomsbury Football and the insightful discussion allowed me to share some of our stories, learnings and ambitions as we aim to remove barriers, and bring more young people opportunities to experience the benefits of sport. Thank you to Rothschild & Co and the amazing panelists for facilitating this important conversation and sharing some of the fantastic work that's being delivered across London and beyond.

  • On Saturday the JRF Team plus an additional 40 challengers took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for the Foundation. What a day! We started at 6am in some good old Yorkshire drizzle and mist - but not long after conquering the first peak, the sun came out for us. 24 miles of walking and over 5000ft of tough ascents (and descents!) - it was harder than a lot of us expected - but we all dug deep and saw it through finishing around 5pm for a well earned drink and celebratory dinner! We had two groups of corporates doing this with us as part of a team building event and they were fantastic, such a great activity to do as a team. If you or your company is interested in joining next year - get in touch as we're already signing people up. Huge thanks to all who participated, supported and donated - the funds are all going towards helping children in deprived areas of the country through our programmes and activity camps. If you would like to help us reach our target everything is hugely appreciated. https://lnkd.in/dSjQ-FQj Jason Robinson OBE, Chrissy Carswell, Martin Turner, Cara MacGregor, Garic, Lawrence Dallaglio OBE, BOXT , Ben Mosley, Jason Robinson Foundation
