I write tutorials every day to help you learn Tableau. Less than 2% of you use them. They're great for reference, but not as useful as they would be if you practiced. Take the content I give you and rebuild each chart or tutorial. Put in the reps. You'll improve dramatically. NOTE: Less than 2% is a guess, but I'm fairly sure it's accurate given the comments and DMs I get.

In the vast world of analytics, it’s easy to fall into the trap of wanting to master every tool available – Python, SQL, R, Tableau, Power BI, BigQuery, AWS, and the list goes on. Our subconscious mind often pushes us toward perfection, leading to anxiety as we compare ourselves to others and try to learn new tools while perfecting the ones we already know. However, the essence of being a good data analyst or data scientist is not about acing every tool but about being an effective problem solver with a creative mindset. Here’s a perspective to keep in mind: 1. 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Understand the purpose of learning a new tool. Are you learning it because it adds value to your current work, or is it just to add another skill to your resume? Focus on tools that enhance your problem-solving capabilities. 2. 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐡: It's okay not to know all the SQL codes, R scripts, or Tableau calculations. Start by understanding how each tool works and what it can do for you. You don't need to dive deep into a tool you’ll rarely use. Prioritize your energy and time on tools that align with your work. 3.𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: There is no perfect tool for creating reports. I’ve seen many dashboards filled with complexities but lacking actionable insights. The goal should be to create visuals that add value and are easy to interpret. 4.𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦-𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭: Instead of merely thinking outside the box, try to better describe the box. This approach can spark new ideas and solutions, evolving your problem-solving mindset.

I found this technique very useful for handling long texts like customer names, product names, or job titles without using Regex. It's helpful when you need to fit text inside chart, for example bar chart, without it overflowing. This method solves that issue effectively. Essentially, you have to use CHAR(10) to break the line, where CHAR() function returns a character from ASCII code, and 10 is line breaker/liner feeder/newline character. Analytics 101: correlation vs causation via @xkcd. You're never too old to re-learn it either. I was chatting with @herbertmattj from Tracksuit recently about two particular challenges with understanding causality in marketing: 1. CAUSAL DIRECTION: Do we have the arrow going in the right direction? F'rinstance, HALF of company website visits happen AFTER people buy a brand's product. You know: to learn more. 2. MULTICAUSALITY: Are we forgetting something else that's also at play? F'rinstance, lots of EFFIE or IPA cases claim the creative idea of a campaign was the cause of a sales lift. But sometimes that was the first time the brand had spent any money on advertising in a long time. So maybe the ad spend was also a cause, eh? (And let's not even mention expanded distribution.) Wanting to find causality is a masssssssssive human instinct. It's extremely adaptive. And it's also super-easy to get wrong. Now excuse me while I put on my lucky jersey so the Eagles can beat the Ravens this Sunday. GO BIRDS.

SAD is often mistaken for mere shyness, but it’s far more profound. 📊 Did you know? ⚫SAD affects both men and women almost equally. ⚫Those aged 24-30 are most affected. ⚫The condition is particularly prevalent among students and those with higher education degrees. ⚫Even more striking, 60% of individuals with SAD experience physical symptoms like tremors, showing the intense impact it has on the body. Through my research, I noticed a pattern: many people with SAD fear entering rooms, speaking in public, and being the center of attention—fears that compound and often go unnoticed. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠: SAD doesn’t have to control your life.
