As leaders, it's crucial to define what sets us apart. -Peter Begg For me, it boils down to three key elements: people, culture, and programs. At Lions, we've built our strategy around quality and food safety, starting with the right people in the right roles. Without them, even the best programs are ineffective. #Leadership #Differentiation #PeopleFirst #CultureMatters #ProgramExecution

Yesterday, I had a wonderful opportunity to listen and learn from some brilliant and experienced leaders in the beverage industry at the 2024 Beer Marketer's Insights Seminar in New York. I wanted to share a few notes I took from Jim Sabia of Constellation Brands. 1. Developing brands starts with investing the time to build a solid foundation. This is a long game strategy that requires discipline and commitment. 2. Truly listening to the consumer combined with a savvy approach to relevant market expansion and disciplined resource allocation are crucial factors for success. 3. Business leaders must focus on the health and consistency at the "core" of the business. If the core is unhealthy the rest will fail. Solid wisdom from a leader who gets it. #modelo #beer #leadership #businessprinciples #buisiness Holon Law Partners

This is How You Strengthen Your Skills as a Restaurant Leader Huge thank you to Arizona FORGE, Tucson City of Gastronomy, Janos Wilder, Gabe Gardner and Rocco DiGrazia for a passionate panel discussion about the difference between leadership and management. My favorite takeaways were: 1. How great leaders start with a vision of what success looks like 2. The importance of sharing that vision with your team and hiring teammates that share that vision 3. The very important role systems play in the success of restaurants 4. How being innovative with tech such as online ordering and third party delivery can greatly benefit your restaurant by giving you a competitive edge If you are interested in watching the full video, DM me and I will happily send it your way. #restaurant #leadership #management

“How you maintain your station is a direct representation of who you are as a cook” Leadership in the Kitchen and Beyond I had an experience recently that reminded me of something an old chef of mine used to say: “How you maintain your station is a direct representation of who you are as a cook. In other words, if your station is a shit, your food will be shit.” It got me thinking about leadership in our industry. The way a restaurant is run—the cleanliness, organization, and how the staff is treated—is a direct reflection of who you are as a business owner. I encountered a restaurant owner who wasn’t running his place well, and it made me ask: Is this kind of leadership good for the industry? As leaders, it’s critical that we set the right example. Our teams and our customers can tell if we care about quality, consistency, and respect for the craft. Seeing poor management is a reminder of how important it is to uphold strong standards in every aspect of our business. Let’s keep pushing for excellence, not just on the plate, but in how we lead our teams and run our restaurants. #leadership #chefsquotes #kitchenleadership

Leadership isn’t just about guiding teams; it’s about building communities that thrive together. At Distilled Leadership, we teach leaders the art of savoring—learning to pause, connect, and truly engage with those around them. 🍂 In every culture, traditions of gathering to mark significant life milestones and celebrate achievements get passed down. Within this gathering is a culturally significant beverage - wine, champagne, beer - poured into glass and raised in unison to a cheer. It's a unifying moment for all to savor. We embrace this spirit of community and celebration by teaching leaders to find moments of meaning, purpose, and connection within their work and with their teams. At the end of the day, leaders and teams that want to can gather with us to learn the fine art of sipping bourbon and celebrate the hard work done that day…linking the craft of leading with the craftsmanship of distilling a fine sipping spirit. Sip, Learn, Lead isn’t just our motto; it’s a way to create communities that celebrate success - moment by amazing, rewarding moment. #DistilledLeadership #SipLearnLead #BuildingCommunity #LeadershipDevelopment #WholeBrainThinking #LeadershipMoments
