A busy summer has resulted in a dip in food donations at local food banks and community fridges. Can your business help replenish stocks? There are lots of ways your business can help: 🥫Organise a food collection at your workplace, or encourage your colleagues to make donations at their local supermarket. You can find your nearest food bank or support service on the Access to Food Map App: https://lnkd.in/eXZKp4_M 💵 Consider making a charitable donation to your local food support project, or arrange a collection. The money will be spent on the items most in need. 🥪If you are a local restaurant, cafe or food producer, you may have surplus food that you can donate. There are community fridges across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole that can come and collect - our Map App has a list. Our partners help families and individuals from all walks of life, many who are experiencing short term food insecurity due to a change in circumstance, for example illness, job loss or increase in rent/mortgage payments. Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Last month during the B Corp Month campaign, our Health, Wellness, and Happiness team arranged a B Corp Month Bingo. Being a B Corp is not only about business but also about our people and the small things in our daily lives.   The mission was simple: everyone takes up one task, and we complete the bingo as a team. Of course, it is encouraged to try all of them. With every bingo line achieved, we will donate 25 euros to a charity we choose. (Spoiler alert: we donated 300 euros to the World Food Program)   Look how colorful it turned out! 🎨   Note to self: Don’t make it too simple, no matter how much you want your company to donate to a charitable cause.  

As I continue training for the Spartan Ultra, I'm constantly inspired by the incredible work of Meals on Wheels of Greenville. Let me share why their mission is so crucial: *They deliver nutritious meals to seniors and homebound individuals, combating isolation and malnutrition. *Their service extends beyond humans - they also provide pet food, ensuring beloved companions are cared for too. *Volunteers offer vital social connection, often being the only human contact some recipients have all day. We're making progress on our fundraising goal, but we need your help to cross the finish line. We've raised $640 so far, with $360 left to hit our $1,000 target. Corporate leaders, I challenge you: Can your company match our current donations or pledge the remaining $360? These are great tips for decluttering, especially with the holidays around the corner. Sometimes, declutterring one room at a time can be overwhelming. To make it more manageable break down the process further into declutterring one drawer, one closet or one cabinet at a time.

Here are 5 ideas for maintaining a less cluttered home: 1. Keep a bag in the boot of your car for charity donations. As you come across something that is no longer needed, pop it in the bag. When it’s full, drop it off at your nearest charity shop. 2. Practice the 1 in 1 out rule – anything new coming into the home has to be exchanged from something that you no longer need or love. 3. Treat pending school holidays, birthdays and Christmas as good opportunities to sort out possessions that can be passed on for others to enjoy. 4. Engage the rest of the household in the benefits of decluttering their own things (they will know where to find what they want and they may even make some money selling old things). 5. Increasingly more people are including a legacy gift in their Will to support a cause that matters to them and every gift is important to us. Salvation Army’s 2024 State of the Nation Report indicates food support services nationwide have seen a 40% increase in demand. 40% 🤯 That's hard to read. There's so much need out there and we know everyday organisations like Fair Food NZ, Kura Kai, The Salvation Army and more are all trying their best to meet it. It's our dream to be able to meet that level of need so no one goes hungry. Our even bigger dream is that no one would go hungry in the first place. But for now, whether you're adding a small donation when you're shopping online at one of our partners, chucking an extra pack of toilet paper (one of the high-demand items at food banks) into the trolly for the food bank, or whatever small thing you can, let's try to help these charities together. Sometimes it can feel almost hopeless. But every small action makes a difference when we do it together.

How we donate and give charity is just as important as not giving at all. Many times our good intentions don’t yield the results we want. We donate deorderant and cans of beans but do we ever look deeper at the impact. Yes it makes us feel good but I really challenge us to have a different outlook. When we buy deorderant from Walmart we pay a huge markup and are supporting an organization that suppresses opportunity for people they don’t seem worthy through their system. So you spend the $40 or so and feel good but in reality the impact could be more. The purchasing power of a food pantry is much greater than ours. For every can you buy they could buy at least two at the same cost of that one. That is why I don’t go a buy a bunch of food to donate. I also don’t donate shirts like Bombas socks. I donate a percent of my profit to reach my goal of $20,000 cash money in 90 days for the community kitchens our communities to buy the vital needs at a more economical sustainable scale. Let’s think outside of the box. Instead of supporting the big corporations support small ones like mine.
