🚀 Creating impact! Together with other EU STEM Coalition partners we have attended the National Swedish #STEM Conference 2024 in Malmö! 🇸🇪 This brought together triple helix partners – government, industry, and education – to forge a united vision for the future. 🌟 Over the past years, Swedish stakeholders, supported by the EU STEM Coalition, Platform Talent voor Technologie and the Danish STEM Platform (Astra) have been working hard to create a joint strategy to strengthen #STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as a foundation for innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable development. 🌍✨ 🔑 Some high-lights of todays event 👉 Mats Persson, Swedish Minister for Employment and Integration, sharing the national strategy to align STEM skills with labor market needs. 👉 Marie Nilsson (IF Metall) & Pia Sandvik (Teknikföretagen), highlighting the role of employers and unions in this transformation. 👉 Guro Rørvik (Norway) & Mikkel Bohm (Denmark), sharing valuable European lessons. 💡 Interactive seminars dive deep into key challenges and opportunities: ✅ Making STEM more inclusive: Dr Ulrika Sultan. (Örebro University) explores strategies to attract girls and underrepresented groups. ✅ Hybrid learning: Learn from Perstorp Technical Gymnasium about blending theory and practice. ✅ Upskilling & reskilling: Discover impactful projects like Mind The Gap, helping companies build strategic skills. 🤝 This conference was all about collaboration – breaking silos between industry, education, and policymakers. By sharing knowledge across Europe, we can innovate faster and make a bigger impact. 🌐💪 The EU STEM Coalition is especially looking forward to engage with our partners in the upcoming EU STEM Education plan. Europe's main network of national STEM platforms.
Over ons
The EU STEM Coalition is an EU-wide network that works to build better STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education in Europe. Our goal is to shape STEM education policies and practices that foster economic growth, opportunity and well-being for all. The EU STEM Coalition is at the heart of EU-wide cooperation between national STEM platforms. STEM platforms are national or regional organisations tasked with the coordination and implementation of the national and regional STEM strategies and policies. They include dedicated platforms, national ministries, regional authorities, research councils, innovation agencies and university networks and many more. The platforms work closely with our European partners and a range national and regional partners to address skills mismatch in STEM throughout the EU. The EU STEM Coalition's main goal is to facilitate best-practice sharing between European countries and regions. Through a wide variety of activities and resources we bring together policy makers and policy shapers to exchange ideas, share experiences, and develop new approaches across a range of areas related to STEM education and labour market. Our activities include annual conferences, thematic working groups, webinars, peer-learning activities and online repositories. In addition, the EU STEM Coalition provides direct support in the development of new initiatives, organisations and strategies based on existing best-practices.

Several members of the EU STEM Coalition participated and contributed to the insightful workshop by the Joint Research Centre and the European Commission on STEM competences in the EU. We dived into important questions that will steer the upcoming EU Strategic STEM Education Plan such as 'What are the main institutional barriers and drivers for developing STEM competencies? How to best assess STEM competences for students, adults, and teachers? How to address gender and diversity gaps in STEM learning outcomes? And is there a need for EU STEM competence frameworks for students, adults, and educators? What do you think? Very welcome to share your ideas with us!
Today, I am part of the leading STEM community in the EU. Joint Research Center Centre - European Commission and Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture to the EU invited me to participate in an online workshop on "STEM Competencies in the EU". Thanks so much for the invitation. It was a very fruitful discussion. #stem #steam #education #inspiration #curiousity #innovation #schools #leaning #eLearning European Institute for Technologies, Education and Digitalisation EduTechFlag Ltd.

💡 Highlighting the Importance of STEM Education in the 2024 European Elections! 💡 Ahead of the European Parliament elections (June 6-9, 2024), the EU STEM Coalition, together with members like the Platform Talent voor Technologie and zdi.NRW | Zukunft durch Innovation, is drawing attention to the urgent need for STEM education reform (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) across Europe. Susanne Jakobs-Bohack from ZENIT GmbH in North-Rhine Westphalia emphasizes the necessity of promoting STEM education outside traditional school systems. “The more Europe supports extracurricular STEM education and regional initiatives, the more successfully young people's skills in key areas such as digitalization, climate protection, and innovation can be developed.” More and more countries understand the need to invest in #STEM education: 👉 German Chancellor Olaf Scholz & Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger both highlight the great importance of STEM education for Germany's future on the National STEM summit taking place today 👉 Finland launched a National STEM Strategy in 2023, as did the region of Flanders in 2021 👉 Hungary set a goal to increase the proportion of students in higher education who choose fields related to mathematics, natural sciences, engineering, and information technology (STEM) to 50 percent by 2030 👉 The Netherlands invests 350 million euros for the upcoming 8 years in the tech talent of the future Now all we need is a European STEM approach to coordinate and step up these efforts! 💪
