🌟 Yesterday marked an important milestone as we kicked off the Championing Neurodiversity Roadshow at AtkinsRéalis, spearheaded by Matthew Nash. It was an honour to be part of the panel alongside three colleagues from our Bristol office, including Nick Draisey. We delved into vital discussions surrounding neurodiversity, shedding light on our personal journeys and experiences. Key topics we explored included: · the timing and impact of receiving our diagnoses. · the factors influencing our decisions to disclose our neurodiverse conditions. · Masking, a common phenomenon among neurodiverse individuals. · Challenges faced in the corporate world. · Ways colleagues can support neurodiverse individuals in the workplace. Whether it's promoting open dialogue, providing accommodations, or fostering a culture of acceptance, small gestures can make a world of difference in creating inclusive workspaces. Thank you to everyone who attended and is engaged in championing neurodiversity, creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to thrive. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to participate in such an impactful discussion and look forward to continuing the conversation and driving positive change. #Neurodiversity #Inclusion #ChampioningDifferences ✨

At Green Hat Consulting Consulting, we recognise the significance of Neurodiversity Celebration Week next week (March 18 – 24). We want to emphasise the importance of creating a neurodivergent-friendly environment within your organisation. Here's why this is crucial: 🧠 1 in 5 individuals in the UK identify as neurodivergent. 💼 Many individuals who are neurodivergent may not realise it yet. 😁 Establishing a neurodivergent-friendly culture within your organisation benefits everyone involved. By fostering a neurodivergent-friendly workplace, you not only support the diverse needs of individuals with neurological differences but also create an inclusive environment that benefits all employees. As advocates for diversity and inclusivity, we encourage you to embrace neurodiversity and create a welcoming and supportive space for all individuals within your organisation. https://lnkd.in/ghs_HpSi #neurodiversityweek #neurodiversity #inclusivity #construction #adhdawareness #autismawareness #aspergers

I attended the National Neurodiversity at Work Conference at the Royal Society of Medicine in London yesterday. The event was a powerful reminder that "Nothing gets changed in silence." With 1 in 7 people being neurodivergent, the time has come to move the conversation up the agenda. Our focus on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) is crucial in this dialogue. It would be fantastic to get a few views on the following in the comments to gauge understanding. Who do you know that is neurodivergent? What do you know about neurodiversity? How do you tap into the amazing talents of neurodiverse colleagues and team members? What are you doing to create an environment of well-being and belonging in the workplace? As part of my continued commitment to fostering inclusive environments, I offer workshops on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion across the UK and Europe. These workshops aim to de-stigmatise neurodiversity, encourage open sharing, and equip organisations with the tools to create supportive and inclusive workplaces. Let’s go beyond the Equality Act 2010, de-stigmatise, and listen to those around us. It’s not about ‘disclosure’ – it should be about sharing and fostering an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and supported. Thanks Matthew Holman a great way to raise awareness of Neurodiversity, especially in the workplace. Neurodiversity is moving up the workplace agenda for two reasons. Companies wishing to be truly inclusive employers cannot exclude such a significant demographic as the neurodivergent. To continue doing so risks missing out on talent, and compromising on productivity and customer trust. More pertinently, the business case for diversity has highlighted the importance of ‘diversity of thought’ – get people with different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences in a room, and your team will be more innovative and creative. In a sense, neurodiversity may be one of the most challenging areas within diversity and inclusion in the workplace – complex, nuanced, and often invisible – yet it offers a business upside in this context: given that neurodivergent people literally think differently. ‘A lack of awareness and understanding has led to hiring processes, management practices and workspaces being designed only with neurotypicals in mind.’ Including people who are neurodivergent requires a conscious effort on the part of employers.
