🆕 Policy Voices Episode | EU Elections Series: Climate Change The European Elections begin in seven days. Friends of Europe has launched a podcast series in which we speak with representatives from five parties to discuss the policy areas that we believe the next mandate must prioritise in order to enact a Renewed Social Contract. Today’s episode covers climate change. We believe that policymakers must balance a dual digital, green transition with the needs of citizens to create a resilient, equitable society. Friends of Europe’s ‘10 Policy Choices for a Renewed Social Contract for Europe’ calls on policymakers to prioritise the acceleration of carbon reduction in order to support this vision for Europe. ChangeNOW summit is political, but in the right way. The summit will start tomorrow (25th) in paris and it has a very interesting mix of #business, #research, NGOs and #politics that make it especially interesting. What I find specific about changeNow is how it addresses all these issues without being greenwashingy or too sympathetic towards businesses and politicians. This year, there will be a debate on #sustainability on the 27th between the french politicians of all parties applying for the European elections and I think this is a great thing. The summit is being political but in the right way: not favoring any specific side but putting everyone in front of their responsibility for the future.

📣 Publication Alert!!! 📣 The Populist Radical-right Freedom Party in the Austrian 2024 EU elections Author: Eric Miklin In #Austria's 2024 EU elections, the Freedom Party of Austria (#FPÖ) emerged as the top performer by championing its established radical-right #platform. Known for its #populist stance over the last 30 years, the FPÖ pushed for a major reduction in the #EU's size, #powers, and #budget. It fiercely opposed EU policies on #migration, #Ukraine, #climate action, and COVID-19, using #alarmist #language to label #opponents as #corrupt or #extreme. Despite heavy #criticism from other Austrian parties and much of the media, the FPÖ framed itself as the only defender of Austrian interests against a supposedly unified #establishment.
