4) What’s the best way to find a #Foundation to support your work in Asia and Australia? Will there ever be a simple method to research grant-giving Foundations in the region? As a non-profit funding model, Foundations are a mainstay for many organisations. So, it is unfortunate that it is so difficult to research, find and study grant-giving Foundations in Asia. The US has its Foundation Center and GuideStar (as part of Candid), China has the China Foundation Center and Australia - while not exactly focused on Foundations - has its PafGUIDE, a database of more than 3,000 Private Ancillary Funds. Most fund-raising non-profits in the region get by knowing two things: 1) Who are the main grant giving Foundations in their economies focused on their mission; 2) Who are the big Foundations in their regions who might do cross-border giving (the list is usually pretty short, but there are some like Temasek Foundation, Sasakawa Peace Foundation / 公益財団法人 笹川平和財団 and THE KADOORIE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION).   But even those non-profits with great research teams and strong networks, may not know of a big Foundation in their own economies willing to fund them unless they are introduced (and vice versa). If there are any economies in Asia (except for China) who do have publicly accessible databases on grant giving Foundations (like the US), it would be great to know more and to see how the database is being managed and used. Are there any regional organisations (maybe AVPN?) who could help with this? In the meantime, Asian non-profits can only rely on media research, their own networks and anecdotal information to try and find and engage Foundations that might fund their work. For those who do manage to find the right Foundation and successfully engage it for support, it can be life changing for the organisation. But for those lost in the wilderness of Foundation fund raising in Asia it can be both a frustrating and expensive fund-raising model! #fundraising #nonprofits #Foundations #philanthropy #Asia #development

This year's programme participants have COMPLETELY SMASHED IT! We've asked all our participants to evaluate the 2024 Global Radicals: Fundraising Leadership Programme - which had 1,000+ participants from 100+ countries - together exploring and equipping ourselves with regionally relevant approaches to fund social impact in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. We've already had 70+ evaluations submitted and here are a few highlights (more to follow in September): 🤩 So far, more than 40% of certificated participants have told us that what they learned on the programme has directly led to them raising a high-value donation during the last 10 months (from their first USD10,000 donation in Afghanistan, to a share of a USD19 million grant in Sierra Leone!) ⭐️ So far, 100% of those who engaged with the programme feel more confident about funding AND feel better-equipped with the tools and tactics to raise funding for their social impact. 🙏🏼 And, so far 100% of participants would "highly recommend" the programme to others. One participant described it as "simply the very best investment of time I have ever put into my own capacity-building". The next organisation for our upcoming Partnership Forum Germany-Central Asia in November 2024 in Berlin is The National Association of Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations of Uzbekistan (NANNOUz). NANNOUz represents and protects the common interests of non-governmental non-profit organizations. The Association provides them with comprehensive support, as well as a self-governing organization created to strengthen cooperation between NGOs and government bodies based on the principle of social partnership. The Association is one of the largest public organizations in Uzbekistan, founded in 2005 on the initiative of 150 leading non-governmental organizations. The main goal of NANNOUz is the unification of local NGOs, coordination of their activities, support, development, as well as assistance in improving their efficiency and quality. 📸 x The National Association of Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations of Uzbekistan

... and the magic happens... This is always the crucial moment when you organize a conference, a training an event, an activity... The moment when people meet each other, start connecting, reaching out, exchanging, sharing learnings and failures, seeking collaboration opportunities. Once that 'magic' happens, you know you're off on a good start. And, interestingly, the magic always happens... What are the ingredients? In the end, it's all about the magic people in the room - working to create impact, to do it better, faster and therefore the curiosity to learn from and with each other. To collaborate, to seek solutions together. The #IFC Pop-up in #CapeTown, which The Resource Alliance organized in collaboration with local partner Relatomics Foundation, and Colin's team, is a beautiful example. Fundraisers, campaigners, communicators, change makers, leaders - all working in the social impact sector to create just, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable societies.
