Our own Douglas Cox was featured speaker last week at the "Regional High-Level Workshop on Enhancing the Investment Climate for Refugee, Returnee, and Host Communities' Economic Empowerment". This workshop, a joint effort by the African Development Bank Group, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, IGAD, and the East African Community, was a great chance to showcase our work empowering refugees through access to clean, reliable, and affordable electricity.

What a powerful discussion it was, well done Samuel P. S. Williams! Your presence was grounding and true. Your opening line, positioning Trust as the key to deepening relationships and strengthening partnerships, meant I was going to stay in the room until the end. My boundless curiosity around Trust and how people perceive it - or rather, how little it is understood, when it is the common denominator to how discussions unfold, decisions made, actions carried out and success stories are made - brought me to create the THRICE model. 6 ingredients to Trust. No fluffiness. The KPI that enables transformative and long-lasting change.

What if the most effective solutions to refugee crises came from the refugees themselves? #Refugee-led organizations have the unique advantage of being part of the communities they serve, and we've learned their expertise runs even deeper. ➡ Refugee responses, including policies and programs, are more effective when informed by refugees' real needs and lived experiences. ➡ Refugee leaders are doing some of the most effective work on the front lines of crises. ➡ Refugee voices are crucial for sustainable solutions and integration into host communities. Without them, we risk continuing short-sighted responses that only address immediate needs. Join us this #WorldRefugeeDay to empower the experts and invest in refugee-led organizations: https://lnkd.in/gpErMqPK

## Advocating for Refugees at the Kenya Model UN I recently had the opportunity to participate in the 24th Session of the Kenya Model United Nations Refugee Competition. This event brought together passionate individuals from across the country to discuss pressing issues facing refugees and advocate for their rights. The global refugee crisis continues to escalate, with millions of people displaced by conflict, persecution, and the devastating impacts of climate change. Now, more than ever, there is a critical need to address the root causes of displacement, protect the rights of refugees, and provide sustainable support to host communities. By fostering dialogue, building partnerships, and empowering youth to become agents of change, we can work towards a more just and equitable future for all. https://lnkd.in/dxaX3iyM
